Every year on the 1st of March the Vungriščak park turns into a knight's military camp with horseman, swordsmen, armored knights, battle machines and catapults. So starts the battle set in the first half of the 15th century in the year of 1439, when King Albrecht Habsburg died setting Croatians and Hungarians into a battle for the inheritance of the throne. With the widow Queen Elizabeth stood powerful counts of Celje along with the chief of soldiers Ivan Vitovac, while the Polish army of king Vladislav Jagelović was led by Stjepan Banić Lendavski. Two years later the armies clashed near Samobor on Ash Wednesday on March 1st 1441. The winner was Ivan Vitovac who captured warlord Banić.

Every year about 100 knights and archers dressed in 15th century replicas of armor and chain mail participate in the event. In the morning the drummers througout the town shout out the proclamation of the Magistrate telling people to find shelter under the walls of Samobor Castle due to the upcoming danger. After the battle the people of Samobor celebrate and organize a feast at the fair.
